This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles information. It describes what the App actually does, in plain terms.
Almost everything stays on your device. The App has no sign-up, asks for no name, e-mail address or password, and shows no advertising. What you read, save and mark as done is kept in the App's own storage on your phone. What reaches our servers is what is needed to issue and delete the anonymous account described below, and — only if you allow it when iOS asks — measurements of how the App is used.
The App is provided by FOREVER ADS LLC ("we", "us"), which acts as the data controller for the processing described here. You can reach us at help@ayascreen.org.
On first launch the App asks our server for an anonymous account so that your data can later be tied to something other than a device that may be replaced. The account carries no personal details: it has no name, no e-mail address and no password, and it is created without you entering anything. The server returns a token, which is stored in the device Keychain and sent with later requests to identify the same account.
As with any internet request, our server receives the technical information that is part of the connection itself — your IP address, the time of the request and the standard headers your device sends. We use it only to operate and secure the service, and we do not use it to build a profile of you.
You can delete the account from within the App at any time. Doing so removes the account record on our server, the token on your device and the activity the App has stored on your phone.
The following is created as you use the App and is kept in the App's own storage on your device. We have no access to it.
Some of this is placed in a container shared with the App's widgets, so a widget on your home screen can draw the same verse, prayer times and favourites. That container is on your device and is readable only by this App and its widgets.
Beyond what the App keeps on your phone, the following may be collected to keep the App working and to understand how it is used:

What you save, which prayers you mark as performed and the fact that you use a Quran and prayer-times application say something about your religious beliefs. Under European data protection law that is a special category of personal data, and we treat it accordingly.
This information is created and kept on your device. Which verses you save, which prayers you mark and what you search for stay there: the measurements described above count how features are used, not what you read or when you pray. It is never used for advertising or profiling, never sold, and never shared with anyone for their own purposes.
The App asks for location access only while you are using it, and only to calculate prayer times and the direction of the Qibla for where you are. If you refuse, the App keeps working — those two features simply cannot be placed for you.
Prayer times and the Qibla are computed on the device itself, and your coordinates are stored there so the App does not have to ask again. They are not sent to our own servers.
Where you are may also be reported to the analytics and attribution services described below — as a measurement of where the App is used, not as a record of your movements — and, if you allowed tracking when iOS asked, it may be used for that purpose too. Refuse the tracking question and it is not.
To show the name of your city rather than a pair of numbers, the App asks Apple's geocoding service to convert your coordinates into a place name. That request is handled by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy. We receive nothing from it.
The App requests permission to add to your photo library, so that a picture of a verse you have made can be saved there. It has no permission to read your library and never does.
When you choose one of your own photographs as a background, the system picker hands the App only the picture you selected; the App copies it into its own storage and does not upload it.
Prayer reminders are scheduled by your device and delivered by iOS. They are prepared on the device from prayer times computed there — no notification is sent from a server of ours, and no notification token is collected.
The App can add its content — verses, duas and the names of Allah — to your device's Spotlight index so you can find it from the iOS search field. The index belongs to your device and is not shared with us.
If the App offers paid features, they are sold through the App Store. Payment is handled entirely by Apple: the App never sees or stores your card details or your Apple ID password. Apple tells the App whether a purchase is active, and Apple's handling of that transaction is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.
We keep the record of what was bought and whether it is still active — to unlock what you paid for, and to count how many people subscribe. It is linked to your account.
When you first open the App, iOS asks whether you allow it to track you across apps and websites owned by other companies. If you say no — or say nothing — no identifier of yours is used for that purpose, and the App works exactly as it does otherwise.
If you allow it, the account and device identifiers, your location and your purchase history may be used to measure how the App is found and used — for example to tell which campaign an installation came from. You can change the answer at any time in iOS Settings, under Privacy & Security → Tracking.
The App may use analytics, attribution and crash-reporting services to understand how it is used and to fix what breaks. Each of them receives only what is described above, and only in line with the answer you gave to the tracking question.
The only third-party code in the App today is an open-source library for calculating prayer times, which performs its calculations on the device and transmits nothing.
Beyond our own server, the parties involved are Apple's own services: the App Store, push and notification delivery, and the geocoding service described above.
We do not sell personal data, we do not share it for advertising, and we do not use it to make automated decisions about you.
We disclose information only where the law requires it — a valid order from a competent authority — or where it is necessary to establish or defend a legal claim. Because the account holds no personal details and the activity stays on your device, there is very little that could be disclosed.
Traffic between the App and our server travels over HTTPS. The account token is kept in the device Keychain, which is protected by the operating system.
The account record is kept until you delete it. Data on your device is kept until you delete it in the App or remove the App, which takes its storage with it. Technical logs of requests to our server are kept only as long as they are useful for operating and securing the service.
Our server may be operated in a country other than your own. Where information is transferred out of the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on the safeguards available under applicable data protection law.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal data held about you, to have it corrected or erased, to object to or restrict its processing, and to receive it in a portable form. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
The most complete of these rights is built into the App: deleting your account removes both the server record and what the App holds on your phone. For anything else, write to help@ayascreen.org. Because the account carries no identifying details, we may be unable to link a request to a particular account without information that only you can supply.
The App is suitable for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with such data, write to us and we will delete it.
The App may link to pages outside it. Those pages are governed by their own privacy policies, not by this one.
We may update this Policy as the App changes. The date at the top shows when it was last revised; continuing to use the App after an update means the revised Policy applies.
